The first activity in Bispo Bio-Reserve!

Our most recently established Bio-Reserve is the Bispo Bio-Reserve. Located near Podentes, in the municipality of Penela, this conservation area was created after signing a long-term loan agreement with its owner, who aligns his intentions with Milvoz's mission: to safeguard the last remaining pockets of rich biodiversity in the region. This is precisely the case of this piece of land, which consists of a highly biodiverse forest, enriched by a clearing where a meadow full of herbaceous flowers and insects flourishes.

Inside the forest, which developed following the abandonment of agricultural land, it was possible to find piles of waste that had been deposited there decades ago. This situation prompted us to organise the first community initiative in this Bio-Reserve: a waste removal activity, so that this space would only contain natural elements!

After an initial overview of the action and the new Bio-Reserve, it was time to descend the hillside towards the working area, setting off to explore the woods and the corners where the rubbish had been deposited, sometimes entangled in the dense vegetation.

This activity had a significant number of participants, whom we deeply thank for their participation and enthusiasm, which they always convey to the Milvoz team.

We also thank the Municipality of Penela and the Parish Council of Podentes, who attended the event and provided a van to transport the collected waste to an appropriate location more efficiently and safely.
