Promoting activities in a wide range of areas is essential to keeping the Milvoz community involved and active. We organised several initiatives over the summer. Take a look at some of them below!

At the Morena Bio-Reserve, in partnership with the specialist Pedro Pires, we carried out a monitoring session focused on nocturnal butterflies. We observed a wide range of species and learned fascinating facts about these insects. We would like to thank Pedro, who, since the beginning of the Milvoz project, has been promoting such initiatives in the association's conservation areas, making a valuable contribution to increasing the knowledge about this fascinating biological group.

At the Senhora da Alegria Bio-Reserve, we invited Milvoz' affiliated members to join us on a walk to discover the most recently acquired pieces of land. This is where an ecological restoration project will soon be launched, targeting the acacia forest that currently covers the site and poses a threat to the native habitats in the surrounding areas.

It was with a spirit of conviviality that the area to be treated was analysed, observing the different levels of invasion and the ecosystem response to the cutting of acacia trees by the former owner. We now face a demanding process of controlling the dense regrowth, which is already considerable in size. We will take advantage of this process to test different control methods and assess their effectiveness in the context of the Senhora da Alegria Bio-Reserve.

We would like to thank everyone present for their valuable contributions that will help making Milvoz's intervention as effective as possible!
