Thousands of bees have populated Morena

The Mediterranean vegetation of the Morena Bio-Reserve now hosts more than fifty beehives, in partnership with B-Team, a research group from the Functional Ecology Center of the University of Coimbra.

B-Team's research focuses on the protection of pollinating insects through the study of the ecology and ecotoxicology of bees as a model organism, aiming for sustainable and resilient beekeeping. In addition to bees, B-Team also focuses its research on assessing the effects of plant protection products on other bee species and developing sustainable ways to control the Asian hornet.
